Your in-home assessment package
Before we meet, we review your dog’s background, the concerns you’ve noticed and how these affect everyday life.
We explore the situations you’re concerned about in your dog’s usual environment, discuss what may be contributing and consider practical ways to manage them.
After the assessment, you receive a written report with practical management recommendations and next steps, including further support where appropriate.
The home appointment lasts a maximum of 60 minutes. Your package also includes the history review beforehand and report preparation afterwards; these are separate from the appointment time.
We may recommend veterinary input where appropriate. Any additional Padfoot services are optional and charged separately.
James Davis is Padfoot’s founder and an animal behaviourist with postgraduate qualifications in animal science and behaviour. Our focus is understanding your dog’s behaviour and helping you take practical next steps.
Behaviour support does not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment. Read James’s profile and meet the team, or read about how we work collaboratively with your vet.
If aggression, reactivity, anxiety, separation distress or resource guarding is affecting life with your dog, start with an individual behaviour assessment.
For everyday skills such as recall, loose-lead walking and polite greetings, group classes may be a better starting point when your dog is comfortable learning around others.
If there has been a bite or a significant safety concern, arrange an assessment before booking group classes or Walk & Train.
Assessment options
For local clients, an in-home assessment lets us explore behaviour in the setting where it happens. Telephone assessments offer a separate option for clients across Australia.
